Abstract: Chile is a country that has advanced strongly in coverage and schooling. Even so, there are important differences at the geographical level that relieve inequality in the quality of education that the population receives, resulting in long-term inequality. Therefore, this article aims to determine the influence of the geographic context on the academic achievement of elementary school students in Chile, considering the concentration of socioeconomic, ethnic and immigrant groups, in the areas of language and mathematics. The method applied is spatial econometrics using the questionnaire data and results in the SIMCE standardized test, for the period 2014 to 2017. The results show a spatial dependence of the results in both language (reading) and mathematics. In addition, there are direct effects of the concentration of indigenous and immigrant students in the case of reading, and of immigrants in mathematics. These results are guiding regarding the need for policies that aim to strengthen school integration practices and the need for intercultural education.
